Developing. The United States of America has once again imposed more sanctions on Rwanda amid the continued violations of the Washington Peace Agreement signed in December 2025.
In an interview published by Igihe (Rwanda’s mouthpiece newspaper), Kagame said, “ What should I be doing to keep my reputation and risk sanctions? Maybe these sanctions have become part of what threatens the stability of the country, our reputation, and so on, so forth. These are difficult choices you have to make.”
Is this a sign of cracks in the mosaic?
H.E. Paul Kagame has long maintained a brave face whenever pressure is applied against him and his inner circle.
Close sources within the regimes' ruling elites have also confirmed that his excellence is not pleased with Trump’s handling of the critics of Rwanda who are actively mobilising high-ranking officials in the White House.
His Excellency also touched on the newly established coalitions, the National Council for Democracy in Rwanda and Rwandan Opposition Coalition-NCDR, Rwanda Opposition Coalition for Democratic Change-ROC, whose members include various political parties and non-government organisations based abroad.
We are monitoring this story closely as the regime is slowly crumbling.
