DEFENSE LAWYERS IN GEN KAYUMBA'S CASE HITS A BRICK-WALL.

Johannesburg – Yesterday the 29th March 2012 the court resumed the case of Gen Kayumba Nyamwasa, where Captain Bongani continued his cross examination with defense lawyers, who were agitated throughout the proceedings and hit a brick -wall.

During the examination, he affirmed to the defense lawyers that; “ I did not know the victim, Gen  Kayumba Nyamwasa, prior to taking confession from the accused number one”. Asked about if he heard a certain Mr Frank, he said that he does not know him and he hasn’t met him.

The defense team deliberately ignored then fact that English is a third if not fifth language in Black communities , undermined the intellectual capacity of the captain as well as of the accused number one by asking him whether the accused number one (Amani Uwimana) was able to mention a word “ Murder” or that Bonagni confused the word “Murder with Shooting” during the taking of confession. The captain insisted that the accused verbally said the word “Murder” thereafter, the confession was ready back to the accused who later confirmed what was ready to him as a true reflection of what he has just said to the captain.

The defense team had no further questions to the captain. The magistrate together with the prosecutor released the captain and called in Col Kwena George Mohlame the lead investigator who, during the investigation, requested his colleague (Lt Col Modile Dorothy Mohlelale, known as MDM) to assist in the pointing as well as taking down the confessions.

Lt Col  Dorothy Mohlelale from the Organized Crime Unity in Vaal  took down the confessions and the pointing. As is a common norm during the taking of confession, Dorothy told the court that; "prior to taking the confessions from the accused, I unhand-cuffed him in order for him to feel free, and it was done in an office on the third floor from the Joburg Organized Crime offices".

The Rights and justice of peace were explained and the confession was taken. During the taking of the confession accused number one “in his sober sense” said Dorothy, the accused “ I didn’t do anything. I only wanted the money and get out”. The accused also added that “I am going to point out the person who wanted to kill the person (Gen Kayumba Nyamwasa) in Mayfair”.

Justice of peace then asked the accused (Amani Uwiman) if he had sustained any injuries or assaulted in any way. He confirmed that there was no injuries obtained while in custody. The pictures were then taken by a male officer, thereafter they proceeded for the pointing.

“The pointing in Mayfair were done by the accused freely and voluntarily” said Lt Col Dorothy. After the pointing, the accused number one (Amani Uwimana) and the Left Col returned to the office were he was again taken pictures before going back to the High Risk Detention facility in Joburg.

The case continues today the 30th March 20112, where the state will bring in a new witness. It’s evident that the defense team has lost its grip on the case. Their attempt to claimed that English is not their 1st or 3rd language for the accused, is irrelevant while all the confessions from different investigators, justice of peace were done in English by the accused themselves.

Gen KAYUMBA NYAMWASA'S CASE PROVES TO BE WATERTIGHT.

Armani Uriwani in a red t-shirt, during consultation with his lawyer.

Johannesburg - The case in which the state accuses Armani Uriwani ( accused 1) together with  the rest of five accused with conspiracy to murder and attempted murder, preceded today with trial within a trial where the defence alleges duress into the making of confessions  by accused 1 that resulted into the arrest of the rest of the accused. The prosecutor opened the session by calling to the witness stand col Zwane George Mohlame  to the court and after went on to lead evidence.
While on stand the investigating officer Col mohlame explained how he took over the case right from the 26th of June 2010 and how he conducted investigations and obtained statements from all the six (6) accused following all the right procedures in order not to violet their rights, and how he thereafter asked them if they could repeat what they had just told him to a magistrate or to the justice of peace and how he went on to explain what justice of peace meant. They confirmed that they understood.
After the prosecutor leading the evidence, the defence team started cross examining the witness (col mohlame). What the defence seemed to want to establish was that the accused number one  ( Arman Uriwani )together with accused number two ( sadi) were assaulted and promised to turn state witnesses if they helped the state  to bring the perpetrators to book  of which the  witness Col Mohlame denied and the defence didn’t have facts to substantiate their allegations.
Colonel Mohlame finished his cross examination at eleven thirty, and then the prosecutor requested from the judge a fifteen minutes break of which was granted.
At eleven forty five, the court resumed and the defence lawyers continued to cross examine the witness.  Colonel Mohlame affirmed to the defence lawyers that during his interview with the accused number one (Armani  Uriwani), “ the accused cooperated with police in order to arrest other accused”.  Questioned whether he was promised to be a state witness, Colonel Mohlame said that “there was a possibility of using him as a witness, but there was no promises made to him”.
Colonel Mohlame further indicated to the court that the accused,  Armani Uriwani, a.k.a Rukara told him of how he was contacted while practicing soccer, and what transpired thereafter.  During the interview “ Rukara seemed relaxed and calm  and that made me believe what Rukara was saying to be true”.
He ( Armani uriwani) went further  and said that; “my aim was to get the money and feed my children and get out of the deal “. He also told him ( Col Mohlame) that “it was never my intention to kill someone”.
Colonel Mohlame told the court that when Rukara heard people mention a name “Afande” he immediately knew that”it was a high profile person to be killed and he didn’t want to go further with the job”. Colonel Mohlame’s cross examination ended at this point.
After the court took a break for few minutes, the prosecutor brought in Captain Nicolas Bongani Ganinda from the Gauteng Vehicle Identification System at the SAPS, who took the statement from the accused number one.
Captain Bongani indicated to the court that he was asked by Colonel Mohlame to take statement from the accused number one in an office next to his office room at the Johannesburg Organised Crime Unity, based at the old Johannesburg stock Exchange building on Kerk and Diagonal Street, Johannesburg.
The accused number one was brought in by Colonel Mohlame without handcuffs, as he felt that there is enough security in the building and that the accused was cooperating with the police.
Before he (Capt Bongani) could start taking statement from the accused, he explained to the accused his rights and what justice of peace meant. The accused confirmed that he understood it and is ready to give his statement. He also indicated that it is made freely and voluntarily.
Captain Bongani told the court that the statement and his conversation with the accused was done in English and that the accused wanted to tell the truth and clear his name.  The defence lawyers asked him if there was any benefits promised to the accused, Captain Bongani told the magistrate that there were no promises made and that Rukara further  informed him that; “ I want to tell the truth and let the law take its course”. He (Rukara) also added that he was involved in the planning of the crime but he was not there when it took place, and that he was offered R14 000 for his involvement in the killing of Gen Kayumba Nyamwasa.
The defence lawyers questioned him to weather Rukara understands and reads English, as he speaks broken English, which you can hardly hear. Captain Bongani confirmed to the court that his interactions with the accused made him believe that the accussed number one ( Armani uriwani) was able to express himself well in English and seemed  an intelligent man. He also told the court that all information was given freely and voluntarily by the accused.
The defence team insisted that Rukara can’t speak or read English and that their client was forced to make statement that he does not even understand, and that English is not his first language. Captain Bongani responded to the defence lawyers that English is not his first language as well and that “I tried to the best of my abilities to communicate with him and we got on along very well”.
The court was adjoined for the following day, 29th March 2012.  What remains clear and quite evident to everyone in court is that the defence failed their bid in this trial within a trial to prove to the magistrate that their client accused number one ( Armani uriwani) was under duress  into giving those confessions.

DOES PAUL KAGAME HAVE AUDACITY TO CELEBRATE HUMAN RIGHTS DAY?

21 March: Human Rights Day
On this day in 1960 the police killed 69 people at Sharpeville who were participating in a protest against the pass laws. Many were shot in the back. The carnage made world headlines. Four days later the government banned black political organizations, many leaders were arrested or went into exile. During the Apartheid era there were human rights abuses by all sides; Human Rights Day is but one step to ensure that the people of South Africa are aware of their human rights and to ensure that such abuses never again occur.
In his article (This International Human Rights Day, dear Rwanda, how about some introspection? Posted on 10th Dec 2011), Aimable Mugara, questioned Rwandese the following; Finally, let us ask ourselves as a nation, are we really completely incapable of producing leaders who can transform our nation into a more humane society? Are we as a nation completely incapable of educating the armed men and women who are our brothers and sisters so that they can use their strength to keep the peace instead of using it to destroy some of our people? Are we going to keep going around in a circles of oppression and hopelessness? Or are we going to create a nation that can finally abide by fundamental human rights? The future is in our hands. Every action we take counts, every word we say counts, just like the ocean is made up of many individual water drops.
Does Rwanda have the audacity under the leadership of Paul Kagame, to celebrate Human Rights day? Or,  should Rwanda have its own Human Rights Day so us to honor the innocent lives lost during/after genocide as South Africa dedicated a day to their beloved brothers and sisters who stood up for their rights during the apartheid regime?
Victoire Ingabire, Deo Mushaid, Chalres Ingabile, Gen Kayumba Nyamwasa, etc…became victims of their own conscious, fighting for human rights as well as freedom of expression from Paul Kagame’s regime. The famous prison in Kigali, known as 1930 houses Hutu prisoners, most of them are undocumented, yet the government of Rwanda laments that it respects basic human rights.

But what is human right under Paul Kagame led government? For him, human right means eliminating opponents, instil fear in people, impose his own ideologies on masses as well as dehumanizing Rwandans across the globe.  Given a substantial records on human rights violations from Paul Kagame’s government, should Rwanda be exempt from celebrating Human rights day or should we stand toll and declare that all is well with his regime?

Think twice, before your next of kin (Jean-Léonard Rugambage, Marcellin Kayiranga, Wilson Ndayambadje , etc.) disappears in your eyes.

PAUL KAGAME AND HIS GANGS…. PART 2

Continued from Part 1 of  3

Gatabazi Felicien
In response to the killing of Gatabazi, the PSD militants of Butare prefecture, ignoring the psychological operations of the RPF, killed Bucyana Martin, President of CDR (Coalition pour la defense de la Republique) in revenge, believing that their leader was killed by CDR or Habyalimana. The Interahamwe and CDR militia in turn reacted angrily and killed many Tutsi in revenge for the killing of Bucyana. This rapid and violent sequence of events made it clear to Kagame what would happen if he attempted to kill Habyalimana.

Another corroborating example was the death in 1993 of Katumba, one of the Interahamwe leaders, who was shot dead, presumably by the RPF, because the Interahamwe and CDR had killed so many Tutsi of Kigali. This wave of killings should have served as an alarm which could not have gone unnoticed.

Still, the plan of Kagame was to take power in Rwanda regardless of the lives of Tutsi and Hutu moderate which would be lost when the anticipated genocide began. Kagame's choice in 1994 of Pasteur Bizimungu, a Hutu, to be the figurehead President behind whom Kagame could operate secretly, was beneficial to him in helping to bring his plans to fruition without causing international alarm. This process ended for Kagame when Pres. Bizimungu resigned in March 2000, tired of being a show president while the real power was with the nominal Vice-President and Defense Minister, Paul Kagame.

Gen Habyarimana Juvenal
Following the signing of the Arusha Accord by the Habyalimina Government and the RPF in January 1994, a battalion of the RPA was sent to the Parliament, the CND, in Kigali. At the same time, other RPA units secretly infiltrated Kigali in civilian clothes. Concurrently, Maj.-Gen. Kagame sent to Uganda four of his military personnel to be trained in the operation of the Russian-built SA-7 Strela man-portable surface-to-air missile (SAM). This type of missile was already in service with the Ugandan Army.

Given that there was no air threat to the RPA at the time - because the RPA units were in the center of the common capital city, Kigali, and because the Rwandan Armed Forces of Habyalimana had only a few armed helicopters - it is clear that the purpose of the training was specifically to shoot down the presidential aircraft of Pres. Habyalimana at the earliest possible opportunity. After training in Uganda, all four RPA troops were returned to Mulindi, the General Headquarters (or High Command) of the RPA in Byumba Prefecture, where they were transferred to the Missile Unity (the term "Unity" normally applies to a three-battalion formation, but not in this case), which was in reality a small missile section commanded by Lieutenant Kayumba Joseph. Kayumba was later known to be living at Kanombe Barracks, in Kigali, and was later been promoted to the rank of Captain.

Jean Pierre Mugabe
I was a witness of these events, living at Mulindi, and where Kayumba Joseph and his colleagues were friends of mine.

At the end of February 1994, considering the refusal of Habyalimana to implement the Arusha peace accord, Lt.-Col. Kayonga, then commander of the RPF's Battalion based in the CND, sent a message to Lieutenant Kayumba ordering him to send the four missile-trained military troops to the CND. After receiving that message, Lieutenant Kayumba had immediately sent them to CND without informing Lt.-Col. Kabarebe James, his Commanding Officer. Lt.-Col. Kabarebe imprisoned Lt. Kayumba because of that failure to inform him of the transfer of the four troops.

In March 1994, the RPA's High Command led by Kagame called on the RPF officials based in Kigali to return to Mulindi. Most of them left Kigali for Mulindi. Two weeks before the crash of the Presidential aircraft, Maj.-Gen. Kagame sent Lt.-Col. James Kabarebe to bring the SA-7 surface-to-air missiles to the CND detachment, and to give final instructions related to the new attack against the Rwandese Army forces (FAR) and brief the four soldiers designated to shoot down the aircraft of Habyalimana. Lt.-Col. Kabarebe spent more than one week in CND before returning to Mulindi.

Two RPF leaders, Colonels Kanyarengwe Alexis and Lizinde Theoneste, who had earlier served in the Habyalimana Government, gave information and instructions as to where the missiles should be placed. (Col. Lizinde Theoneste, who later defected, was subsequently assassinated in 1998 by RPF operatives in Nairobi, Kenya, in order to ensure the secrecy of the missile operation.)

The missile locations were at Masaka sector of the Kanombe commune, on the outskirts of Kigali, where aircraft make their final approach before landing.

Two weeks before the Habyalimana's aircraft crash, 12 artillery systems were brought from Uganda, and arrived at our headquaters in Mulindi. In the meantime, our High Command was busy organizing meetings and preparing for the final battle to take control of Kigali. Those who attended the meetings were: Colonels Ndungute, Sam Kaka, Kayumba Nyamwasa, Twahirwa Dodo, Gashumba, Muhire, Mugambage Frank, Ngoga, Bagire, Biseruka, Musitu, and Karemera. Among the lieutenant-colonels were James Kabarebe, Ibingira, Rwahama, Nyamurangwa, Karangwa, Kadhafi, Karera, Gahutu, and others.

The Aircraft Crash and the Beginning of the Genocide Prepared in Advance by Hutu Power, and How Kagame's Plans Became the Catalyst .

Once the preparations to eliminate Pres. Habyalimana were completed, it was necessary to find a reason to force Pres. Habyalimana to travel by aircraft over the area where the missiles were deployed. Given that the missiles were deployed along the approach path to Kanombe Airport at Kigali, it was then only necessary to know the time of the return to Kigali by Pres. Habyalimana's aircraft.

As part of the planning, the leaders of the RPF had been lobbying in friendly countries so that these countries would convince Pres. Mwinyi of Tanzania to organize a regional summit about Burundi's problems, and about the implementation of the Arusha Peace Accords. The RPF insisted that military chiefs also be invited.
The summit was a trap for Habyalimana, giving Kagame a way to take power.

PAUL KAGAME AND HIS GANGS BETRAYED RWANDANS. PART 1.

This year marks eighteen years of lies and betrayals from Paul Kagame, as he continues to cover up his crimes against humanity. Many Rwandans struggle to come to terms with lose of their loved ones, while the criminal continues to parade the streets as a free man?
Fed up with Paul Kagame’s way of doing things, Jean Pierre Mugabe, former Intelligence Officer of the Department G2 of National Gendarmerie (Rwandan Patriotic Army) fled to the United State of America to seek refugee in 2000. Thereafter he was followed by many other Rwandeses who did not jelly well with Paul Kagame’s leadership.

Recently Dr Theogene Rudasingwa, senator Safari Stanley, Col Patrick Karegeya and Gen Kayumba Nyamwasa unchained themselves and fled into exile. This angered already angry man to a point where his agents started hunting those opposing him in exile. The following extracts from Jean Pierre Mugabe’s confession letter in 2000 published in 2001 by “Centre for Research on Globalisation”, shades a light in our understanding of a man who continues to betray Rwandans on a large scale.

The Perpetrators of the Presidential Aircraft Crash .

Major-General Paul KAGAME is the son of Rutagambwa and Siteriya and comes from Gitisi and Nyamagana near Ruhango (GITARAMA).

Colonel James KABAREBE. Was the private Secretary and aide-de-camp (ADC) of Major-General Paul Kagame (see above). He became Commander of the High Command Unit at Mulindi. Later, this Unit became the Republican Guard under his leadership. James Kabarebe was the Commander-in-Chief of the Congolese Army Forces (FAC) after Mzee Laurent Desire Kabila took power in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in 1997. Soon after, James took the control of forces determined to overthrow Mzee Kabila.

Lieutenant-Colonel Charles KAYONGA was chief in charge of the Operations Unit of High Command Unit at Mulindi - at that time with the rank of lieutenant - from December 1993 until July 1, 1994. From lieutenant, he was promoted directly to the rank of Lieutenant-colonel and given the command of the RPA battalion sent to Kigali to what is now the National Assembly (then the NDC: National Development Council) after the signing of the Arusha Accords. Kayonga had under his command more than 3,200 RPA troops, wearing civilian clothes, who clandestinely entered into the city of Kigali.

Preparations in the Rwandan Patriotic Front .

During and after the signing of the Arusha Peace Accords, the Rwandan Patriotic Front was preparing for the final battle. After the signature by both sides involved in the conflict, (then) Major (now Major-General) Paul Kagame started visiting all Unit Commands under the areas controlled by RPF. He met with us (Rwandan Patriotic Army soldiers) and assured us that we should not believe at all in Arusha Peace Accords.
"Be ready with your military equipment, we are going to fight for the final war against the Kigali Government," Major Paul Kagame told the RPF troops.

Thereafter, the military forces in different units received intensive training in Karama, a political-military center in Byumba prefecture. In addition, the nominally-civilian cadres of RPF also received some military and political training in Karama to support the RPA.

When the RPF had sent its RPA battalion of 600 troops to Kigali under command of Lt.-Col. Charles Kayonga, other military units in civilian clothes also infiltrated the town of Kigali. Every time that RPF trucks came to our headquarter in Mulindi to load military supplies and firewood to be sent to the battalion in Kigali (at the CND, where the RPA battalion was based), arms and ammunition were also loaded, concealed among the supplies which were legitimately supposed to reach Kigali.

The RPF's high-ranking officers in Kigali under MINUAR (United Nations International Monitoring Unit in Rwanda) were there to survey the preparations of the then- Government Army. RPF officials tried at their best to convince other opposition political parties to address the Rwandan crises by eliminating President Habyalimana. Pres. Habyalimana has been reported as the key person who brought disaster to the country and the person who delayed the implementation of the Arusha Peace Accord. There were, however, other factors. The main political parties, the MDR and PSD, were reluctant to support the RPF proposal in the belief that the RPF itself would not respect the Arusha Peace Accord.

Gatabazi Felicien, the incumbent Secretary-General of PSD (Partie Socialiste Democrat), was killed by RPF gunmen while entering his compound in Kigali in February 1994, because he had opposed the RPF plan. The killers used a known and standard RPF method called "standing up". The RPF held a meeting between February and March 1994 at Mulindi with RPF- member businessmen, the sponsors of RPF's guerilla operations.

Major-General Paul Kagame, closing that meeting, spoke about the Arusha Peace Accord, accusing Habyalimana of delaying its imprimantation. A businessman named Kalinda Sweet Bread (who subsequently fled Rwanda in 1998 after the RPA killed his child), speaking on behalf of other RPF members, declared that the Arusha Peace Accord delayed the RPF program and that this would cost a lot of money which they would not be capable of providing in the coming days. Major- General Kagame asked for solutions. Kalinda responded that the real solution was to re- attack the Rwandan Government. That proposal was well-received by other businessmen and Kagame did not oppose it.

The Collapse of the Arusha Peace Accord Was the Opportunity for the RPF to Seize Power .

It was clear that if the Arusha Peace Accord was to be implemented then both the Habyalimina Administration and the RPF would face possibly insurmountable difficulties. (It was well-known that elections would not favor the RPF because Hutu power cores of the MRND, MDR, CDR, PSD and PL parties were composed mostly of Hutu.) As a result, both leaders, for different reasons, knew that implementation of the Arusha Accords was not acceptable, despite public posturing to the contrary.

Maj.-Gen. Kagame at this stage was clearly committed, therefore, to continuing the guerrilla war against the Habyalimana, up to and including the assassination of the President. It has become clear that, in this process, Maj.-Gen. Kagame was aware of the fact that killing Pres. Habyalimana would initiate mass destruction and genocide. RPF officers, such as myself, were told in 1993 by the RPF leadership that intelligence reports indicated that Pres. Habyalimana's Hutu followers would begin a campaign to kill all Tutsis in the event that Kagame attempted to seize power.

This intelligence was leaked to the exiled King of Rwanda, King Kigeli V, by his supporters within the RPF, and the King subsequently used the information to issue written warnings to the United States Government and the United Nations that a campaign of genocide was expected. These warnings are now a matter of public record.
As an intelligence officer, I knew that Maj.-Gen. Kagame was well-informed of the fact that Pres. Habyalimana's Presidential Guard and Interahamwe militia were trained and armed to eliminate Tutsi groups in case Paul Kagame attempted to take power. He knew very well that almost all Tutsi were registered on the list of those who had to be exterminated.

The RPF's clandestine broadcasting unit, Radio Muhabura, consistently and openly broadcast at the time details of the Interahamwe's plans for attacks on Tutsis.

The following examples demonstrate that extent of that situation:

Gatabazi Felicien, noted above, was assassinated by the RPF because he had refused to endorse the plan to kill Habyalimana. The RPF had been afraid that he might reveal the plans to Habyalimana who was a close associate in an arms business which weapons supplied to Palipehutu, a criminal-extremist Hutu group in Burundi, and through Mr. Minani, who was at that time a Burundian Minister. The transit store of those arms was a company called Mimosa, a travel company located behind St. Andrews College at Nyamirambo, a suburb of Kigali. Mimosa belonged to Mbarushimana Antoine, a close friend to Gatabazi. Mbarushimana was subsequently killed by RPA at Nyanza (a sub-prefecture of Butare) after the genocide, in order to silence a witness of Gatabazi's death.

RWANDA RULED BY A HYPOCRITE

PRESIDENT Paul Kagame has said that the sentencing of Umurabyo editor to 17 years in jail is not only harsh but also “reflects badly on the country” and his leadership. In an interview with Uganda’s The Independent magazine published on November 10, the president was asked whether the sentencing of Agnes Uwimana, editor of Umurabyo newspaper did not reflect badly on him as the president, he responded, “It also reflects badly on the country”.

While emphasizing the importance of rule of law and the independence of the judiciary, the president further told The Independent “…I wish they had asked me I would have even forgiven such a person. First of all it doesn’t affect me either as a person or as president. I would not wish to have any journalist or anyone for that matter to be jailed for 17 years simply because they criticised me”.

The two were convicted in February 2010 for having endangered national security and insulted the president in a series of articles published in their journal, Umurabyo. In the articles, they criticised President Kagame's employment and agricultural policies and questioned why he was continuing to work with high-ranking officials who had been involved in Rwanda's 1994 genocide. They are also accused of having denied the Rwandan genocide by writing that Rwandans were killing Rwandans - thereby contradicting the official doctrine.

As it is well know, this is the same president who makes a call to the judges, before handing out judgment to the accused. Basically he is the man in charge of the judicial system, a man  with a final-say to such cases. His double standards leave Rwandans in darkness as well as backwards in developing  themselves mentally, physical and psychological.

In her trial, Ingabire Victory, who is accused of inciting Genocide Ideology maintains that the so-called "18/2008 laws" governing genocide ideology are so abstract that even legal experts don't understand their meaning and scope.

The continued injustice from Paul Kagame’s regime has left bad image for the country as a whole.  Whether Rwandese should sit and let him abuse their rights so badly, remains to be seen.

IS RWANDA A DEMOCRATIC OR CAPITALIST STATE - ?

CAPITALISM

Capitalism is the system under which we all live, which is failing so miserably to meet the needs of the vast majority of the world's population. Under capitalism, a small minority of people are in control of the money and resources of the planet.

The establishing of unions (If Rwanda has any active one) have played a role in protecting and promoting workers' rights in some circumstances, but they do not challenge the true injustice, the idea that it is OK for the few to make the decisions, own the factory, and keep the profits. By acting as intermediaries between the workforce and the bosses, the big established unions simply make the whole system run more smoothly.

If we try and survive outside this system, we end up poor, homeless, in prison. Under capitalism, money, background, education, and class determine how much freedom and control people have in their lives. Should we agree that, Rwanda is a Capitalist state? If so who is accumulating the worth at the expenses of ordinary citizen? Is there a Union ready to speak for the people or they are just zombies walking dead?

DEMOCRACY? We are told that in Rwanda we live in a democracy. According to those in power; we have control over our lives by voting once every seven years but we all know this is rubbish.

How democratic is it when less than 1% of total population decide things for the rest of us? The fact that the turn-out for most elections is well under 99% (?) we know very well that Paul Kagame won't make any real difference or improve our lives. So what's the point in voting him?

When we vote we give up our right to decide things for ourselves and we are at the mercy of career politicians who serve their own interests and those of big business. If we protest or take direct action, which we should, we will be told that WE are undemocratic, causing public disturbance and bringing instability.

HYPOCRISY

Under the current system, billions are spent on arms and military intervention all over the world. They claims it's humanitarian, to get rid of this dictator or that, or to resolve conflicts and prevent human rights abuses. Meanwhile in Rwanda people die in prison or are killed by police who are never made accountable, refugees are freeing and followed into exile to be assassinated .

The Rwandan government continues to attack D.R.C with proxy allies and civilians die from cluster bombs and mines and nothing changes, but it is happy to send the young men into Sudan in order to be seen doing humanitarian work in the African Union cause.

THINK GLOBALLY, ACT LOCALLY

We can see how capitalism and governments operate across the world, across Rwanda, and the effects in our local areas and in our own lives. We can start deciding things for ourselves, whether it's how we work, what to do to improve our community, how our children should be educated etc. The more we start meeting our own needs, the more we make capitalism irrelevant.

ORGANISING LOCALLY
We can organise ourselves and build up solidarity in Rwanda in many ways: *Getting to know our neighbours and the people around us, and looking after each other.
*learning to fix things ourselves and supporting each other in the process.
*Forming groups to challenge destruction of our community resources and surroundings. We can occupy these areas and do what WE want with them.
*Organising our own community groups around education, self-awareness and liberation.
*Defending people from the police, deportation squads and government agents.
*Challenging sexism, racism, classism directly and resisting police harassment and violence in an organised way
*Producing our own versions of things, boycotts, sharing ideas and challenging theirs.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Should capitalism be destroyed? Is Communism/Socialism a viable future for Rwanda or should we just let our country soak into a deep a state of depression?

“If you would not be forgotten, as soon as you are dead and rotten, either write things worth reading, or do things wroth the writing”.-Benjamin Franklin

Rwanda National Congress would, in particular, like to thank the brave woman who descended on the soil of her home country Rwanda in search of democracy that is denied by Paul Kagame’s regime, and that woman is Ingabire Victory.

Ingabire Victory a mother, a revolutionary and a politician has defied the odds and done things worth writing in Rwandan. She has stood against the evil, defeated the injustice system, and exposed Paul Kagame’s savagery behaviour in a modern society.

Ingabire and other opposition leaders face harassments, intimidation and unlawful accusations for their rightful thinking. It is unheard of in history where an individual is charged of “Ideology”. This savagery acts by President Kagame’s regime continues to plunge Rwanda into deep divisions. If not looked at “Now and not tomorrow” Rwandese, will beheld accountable for the failure to act when it is still time and necessary.

Fellow country men and women sit not and wait for the “other” to do something. Like Benjamin Franklin said; "We must indeed all hang together, or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately." Its your responsibility in this world to do something worth writing. As women celebrates International Women’s day, think  of those who lost their lives in 1994 – to date and those who are perishing in prisons across Rwanda.

Rwanda National Congress also would like to remind those women living in exile that “You strike woman, you strike a rock”. Women, just like men are needed more than ever before in order to build a just society. Unlike false prophecy by Paul Kagame’s regime that 51% holds positions in parliament, RNC believe that women are the corner stone of our democracy and that percentages means nothing. We salute those who are in our women’s league across the globe.

Umutoni Clarisse, a mother of two, who sought refugee in South Africa from 2011, expressed her disappointments while speaking to rncnewsonline and this is what she had to stay.

" As a mother, I feel betrayed. Paul Kagame's regime has destroyed our lives, our parents  and relatives died fighting for a democratic country where people suppose to feel at home. All that is no longer the case, instead most Rwandans are living under threat. Soldiers are seen patrolling everywhere, you wonder what is going to happen next". Said Umutoni Clarisse.
On this day, the 8th March 2012, as we join hands in player for the widows and those unable to be with their husbands, we call upon you to stand up and be the shining rocks of our future generation. As it is our African heritage to sit around the fire, practice the norm with the future generation and share our culture; a culture of sharing nor selfishness, a culture of brotherhood nor of blood shading.  RNC wishes you a happy and celebratory women's day.
