Jennifer Fierberg's exclusive interview with Dr T.

Radio Itahuka hosted by John Jambo on the 5th February 2012 aired an interview from Jennifer Fierberg to Dr Theogene Rudasingwa that took place on the 10th December 2011, questioning him on the achievements of Rwanda National Congress as they turned one year in existence.

“It’s Rwanda National Congress’ first year of anniversary, have you met the goal(s) that you set for yourselves” asked Jennifer Fierberg. Dr Theogene responded that “it went beyond our expectations”. The message was well received by Rwandans.

Asked of how he measured it, Theogene Rudasingwa responded by saying that it has been extremely tough year, but people eventually came on board and attended meetings, demonstrations across the world and this pointed out that as difficult as it is, the message that RNC is sending out has been well received by Rwandans.

Jennifer Fierberg questioned him if there are any common themes and that comes up in the meetings and what changes do they want to see happen in Rwanda and if they are lined up within the goals of RNC. Dr Theogene Responded that yes there have been some common themes and issues that confronts Rwanda today. Such issues include the luck of fundamental freedoms and liberty, existence of deep abusive of human rights. Disappearing of activists, journalists and opposition leaders are jailed or killed.

He also added that Rwanda is a place where people are hunted, intimidated in and out of the country. It’s a place where you are deeply divided and traumatized. “So when all those things are combined, you find all these things in the minds of Rwandans you meet” said Theogene Rudasingwa.

“How does the RNC plan to bring different role players in the mainstream, given the social contrast as a basis of a legitimate government?” Asked Jennifer Fierberg.  Dr Theogene Rudasingwa responded in saying that here is a history to learn from. The way it should be done is by creating a social economic and political contrast that is not hinged on another group of elite. He also added that power is there to serve people not to manipulate people, as it the case with Paul Kagame’s regime.
Asked whether there is any potential leader that RNC would hope to have in a place, should they take power in Rwanda, Theogene Rudasingwa responded by saying that as for now it’s not important. “We are in a struggle the issue of choosing leaders ahead of time is not on the agenda”.

“They seem to be a lot of “Come Home” messages from Paul Kagame’s regime , what is the motive behind those messages? Asked Jennifer Fierberg. Theoegene Rudasingwa’s response was that is the propaganda used by the regime to show that Rwanda is well. By showing tourists the buildings in the city of Kigali, telling them that Rwanda is a peaceful country. All those are fabricated lies.  Rwanda is a place where people live with no liberty.

Asked of how RNC envision a transitional government happening in Rwanda, Dr Theogene Rudasingwa said that, given the nature of the current regime and how it came to power in violence, ruled by someone whose logic is violence, can peaceful transitional take place?
